Game 57 lineups: Nats vs. Mets

The Nationals enter the final series of the regular season knowing they have only four games against the Mets remaining on the schedule. With the Giants' 7-2 win over the Rockies late last night, the Nats were officially eliminated from postseason consideration a year after winning the World Series.

Both of Corbin's wins this season have come against the Mets, against whom he is 2-0 with a 3.09 ERA. He is 4-5 with a 4.28 ERA in 16 career games (15 starts) versus New York. Michael Conforto has hit .360 with five homers and 12 RBIs in his career against Corbin. But late today, Conforto was placed on the injured list with a hamstring injury.

Peterson beat the Nats on Aug. 13 with five strong innings, allowing one run on one hit with two walks and three strikeouts in an 8-2 Mets victory. Yan Gomes had the only hit, a single in the fifth inning.

Juan Soto has now hit home runs in consecutive games after not hitting one from Sept. 1 to Sept. 21. He is hitting .500 (6-for-12) over the last five games, with a double, two homers, seven walks, eight runs scored and five RBIs. At the start of play today, Soto is leading the National League batting title race over Atlanta's Freddie Freeman, .352 to .343. Freeman went 1-for-5 last night in the Braves' 9-4 win over the Marlins.

Andrew Stevenson is riding a career-high eight-game hitting streak following his double in the bottom of the first inning last night. During this run, Stevenson is hitting .375 (9-for-24) with four doubles, a triple, a stolen base, four runs scored, two walks and seven RBIs.
