The Nationals look for a series victory today against the Reds after last night's dramatic comeback win. Down 4-0 and 5-1, the Nats slowly chipped away to ultimately drop the Reds 6-5 in 10 innings on a Bryce Harper RBI single.
It was the Nats' 19th comeback victory of the season, meaning they have pulled off this feat for 43.2 percent of their wins this season.
Brian Goodwin, who hit two homers in the game, said this club just has a penchant for not giving up, regardless of the deficit.
"It's huge. Fighting back," Goodwin said. "There's something about fighting back, being down early. The guys never really lost focus. We knew we were in the game the whole game. And throughout the whole stretch, everybody just had their eyes on one goal. Once you carry it out, it's nice."
The Nats turn to right-hander Joe Ross (3-3, 5.98 ERA) as he faces right-hander Homer Bailey. This will be Bailey's first start of the season. Ross has allowed nine runs, seven earned, on 18 hits in his last two starts over 11 2/3 innings.
