Recap: Miguel Gonzalez went 5 2/3 innings, the longest outing by an Orioles starter for a few minutes. Ubaldo Jimenez went six in Dunedin. Gonzalez was charged with five runs and seven hits, with one walk and five strikeouts. The last run off Gonzalez scored when David Hess replaced him and served up a two-run shot to Oswaldo Arcia. Adam Jones and Travis Snider hit back-to-back home runs in the bottom of the first. Jones' two-run shot broke a scoreless tie. Jonathan Schoop scored an unearned run in the fifth on shortstop Danny Santana's error, tying the game 4-4. Mike Yastrzemski homered leading off the bottom of the eighth. Zach Britton registered another scoreless inning and Darren O'Day struck out two while retiring the side in order.

Need to know: Gonzalez issued his first walk of the spring to Kennys Vargas with one out in the sixth, completing a 10-pitch at-bat. Gonzalez had gone 17 2/3 innings without a free pass. I had Gonzalez at 84 pitches, 57 strikes. Britton hadn't walked a batter in a Grapefruit League game - he had one against the Pirates' B team - until Eric Fryer's free pass leading off the seventh. Snider didn't have a home run or RBI before today. Left fielder Alejandro De Aza threw out Vargas trying to stretch an RBI single into a double. Jones bunted a ball foul with De Aza at third base before homering later in the at-bat.

Recap: Right-hander Ubaldo Jimenez became the first Orioles starter to go six innings, allowing a run on five hits with a walk and three strikeouts in Dunedin. Chris Parmelee paced a 12-hit attack with three hits, including a ninth-inning homer, while Rey Navarro drove in two runs with an eighth-inning single that broke a 1-1 tie.

Need to know: Jimmy Paredes continues to rake, a 2-for-4 afternoon pushing his spring average to .385. Both of his hits were doubles. Lefty T.J. McFarland got the win, despite yielding five hits and an unearned run in two innings. Chaz Roe picked up the save.

SARASOTA, Fla. - Miguel Gonzalez turned in his longest outing of the spring today and the longest by an Orioles starter until Ubaldo Jimenez completed six innings in Dunedin in the other split-squad game.

Gonzalez left his game with two outs in the top of the sixth and the score tied 4-4. Oswaldo Arcia hit a two-run homer off David Hess to give the Twins a 6-4 lead and saddle Gonzalez with another run.

Kennys Vargas walked with one out in the sixth, the first free pass issued by Gonzalez in 17 2/3 spring innings.

Gonzalez has allowed 11 runs and 21 hits in 18 1/3 innings, with one walk and 16 strikeouts. He retired seven in a row before Eduardo Nunez's infield hit leading off the sixth. Caleb Joseph threw out Nunez trying to steal.

Jimenez held the Blue Jays to one run, on Josh Donaldson's homer, in six innings. He walked one and struck out three.

Jimenez has walked two batters in his last four starts over 19 innings.

The Orioles tied the score 4-4 in the fifth with an unearned run off Twins starter Ricky Nolaso, who had retired 10 in a row before Jonathan Schoop's leadoff single.

Update: Mike Yastrzemski led off the eighth with a home run to reduce Minnesota's lead to 6-5.

Zach Britton and Darren O'Day each tossed a scoreless inning. Britton issued his first Grapefruit League walk. O'Day struck out two.
