Harrisburg places Bill Bray on disabled list with "shoulder issues"

The Nationals have been looking to fortify their left-handed depth in the bullpen, and the hope in spring training was that veteran Bill Bray would fill that role. Bray did not make the 25-man roster out of spring training, as he was left behind at extended spring training to work on a mechanical issue. In early May, Bray was called up to Double-A Harrisburg. He appeared in four games and did not allow a run over 4 1/3 innings. He gave up just two hits, struck out six and walked one. His last appearance was May 14. On Wednesday, the Senators placed Bray on the disabled list. Bray has been dealing with "shoulder issues," according to a Nats source, and has been put on the shelf indefinitely. This is not good news considering the Nationals have been working on their left-handed relief depth. The team promoted left-hander Fernando Abad Tuesday with Zach Duke, the only previous lefty on the 25-man, used as a starter Monday. The Senators also received right-hander Rob Gilliam from Potomac and sent right-hander Rob Wort to the high Single-A ball club.
