Harrisburg wins again, off to best start in franchise history

The amazing start to the 2019 season continued last night for Double-A Harrisburg in a 10-7 extra-inning win over Hartford. The Senators scored four runs in the eighth and four runs in the 11th to seal the victory. Harrisburg is a franchise-best 17-3 after 20 games, dating back to 1987.

Chuck Taylor went 2-for-2 and drove in four runs after arriving as a pinch-hitter in the eighth. Starter Tyler Mapes allowed only one unearned run in five frames. Dan Jennings tossed 1 2/3 innings and allowed three hits but no runs. Aaron Barrett twirled two frames but surrendered two homers. James Bourque notched the win with two innings of work.

AdriÃ¡n Sanchez contributed two hits, scored twice and added an RBI. Rhett Wiseman had a base hit and a bases-loaded walk for a total of two RBIs. Austin Davidson had a two-run single in the eighth. Tyler Goeddel went 2-for-4 with two runs scored.

Harrisburg's team ERA is an astounding 2.65, with the staff allowing only 53 earned runs in 180 1/3 innings. The team is second to Hartford (201) in strikeouts with 181. The Senators are also second in walks (46) to Altoona (37) in the Eastern League. Their team batting average of .251 is second only to Erie's .270. They lead the league with 25 homers. Second best is Hartford, with 19. Team slugging percentage is .428, best in the league. Erie is at .417. The Senators' 88 RBIs are also tops in the Eastern League.

The Sens face the Yard Goats tonight again in Hartford. Left-hander Ben Braymer gets the start.
