The Orioles activated outfielder Austin Hays from the 10-day injured list this afternoon, returning him to the club after his removal on April 4 due to a strained right hamstring.
The injury occurred after Hays ran out a double in Boston.
Hays is 2-for-10 with a double, two RBIs and four strikeouts. He's on the bench tonight as the Orioles begin a two-game series against the Marlins in Miami.
Outfielder Ryan McKenna was optioned to the alternate training site in Bowie.
DJ Stewart is in left field and Anthony Santander is in right. Trey Mancini is the first baseman.
Ryan Mountcastle joins Hays on the bench with no designated hitter this season in National League ballparks.
Chance Sisco is catching again.
Matt Harvey has made 11 starts against the Marlins and registered a 4.31 ERA and 1.345 WHIP in 64 2/3 innings. He's walked only nine batters (one intentional) and surrendered two home runs.
The Marlins are starting right-hander Nick Neidert, the Mariners' second-round pick in 2015 who was acquired in a trade two years later. He's made six appearances in the majors over the past two years and posted a 4.67 ERA and 1.673 WHIP in 17 1/3 innings.
Neidert made four relief appearances last summer, and he's in the rotation this month. He's started twice and allowed four runs and eight hits with nine walks in nine innings.
Left-handed hitters are 10-for-25 (.400) with three doubles and seven walks against Neidert in his career. Right-handers are 8-for-38 (.211) with two doubles and two home runs.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 p.m.
