Hearing from Davis and Tillman after O's win over Toronto

After his two-hit game tonight in the O's win over Toronto, which included a two-run homer, Chris Davis is batting .313 with career highs with 35 homers and 88 RBIs. He was asked if he knew he would have those stats for the full season back in March, would he have taken those numbers? "Yeah, I think so," Davis said. "That's a productive year. But did we go to the World Series? Did we win the World Series? That is really the ultimate goal - how far did the team go? "I thought a lot of guys had productive years last year, but we didn't finish where we wanted to finish, so I think that would be a better question to ask." But the Orioles did end a four-game losing streak against Toronto and began the final series going into the All-Star break on a good note. "Think it was huge to get the win tonight, especially with two day games back-to-back and we wanted to keep the momentum going after the Texas series," Davis said. Davis' 35 homers in 94 games would have led the Orioles in 49 of their previous 59 seasons in Baltimore. Of Davis' last nine hits, seven have been homers with the others being one double and one single. Tonight, Davis came up with his first single since June 25. Chris Tillman got the win, going six innings and improving to 11-3 with an ERA of 3.95. But he was not too happy with his command, which led to him giving up three early runs. "It was OK, not great," Tillman said. "Fell behind too many times and they took advantage of me falling behind sometimes. "It's good (to be an 11-game winner). Happy with the results, but today I needed to be better. My pitches were there today, but I got out of whack a bit and kept falling behind." Tillman did appreciate getting the support of three homers and some solid defense tonight. "It's awesome. These guys have been swinging the bats all year. They go up grinding every at-bat. It's fun to watch," he said. "Defensively, these guys are playing well. That ball Jonesy (Adam Jones) cut down in the gap and cut down (J.P.) Arencibia, that was special and game-changing right there. Can't say enough about these guys and how hard they go at it every day." Tillman will enter the All-Star break with a solid record and with 12 quality starts in his 19 outings during the first half. "It's been good," he said. "Definitely happy with it, but there is also room for improvement. I want to get better, but want to go into the break with the right attitude and go from there."
