Jones extends streak as Orioles stretch lead

Adam Jones still doesn't have a contract extension, but he's got a 17-game hitting streak. One accomplishment at a time. Jones tripled into right-center field with one out in the third inning, and Matt Wieters followed with a sacrifice fly to increase the Orioles' lead to 3-0. Wieters is 5-for-51, but he produced his 22nd RBI of the season. J.J. Hardy led off the inning with his 10th home run. Chris Davis hit his eighth, and his second in two games, in the second inning. The Orioles lead the majors with 72 home runs, with 53 against right-handers and with 45 solo shots. Royals starter Felipe Paulino shut out the Orioles over seven innings in Kansas City, but they're getting to him today. Wei-Yin Chen has allowed three hits, walked one and struck out two in four scoreless innings. He's thrown 62 pitches, 41 for strikes. This is more like it. Remember that Chen allowed six runs and eight hits in 4 1/3 innings in his last start against the Nationals. He hadn't permitted more than three earned runs in any of his first seven outings.
