Kimball pitches another shutout inning in rehab stint; Rendon update

Nationals right-hander Cole Kimball, recovering from major rotator cuff surgery in his right shoulder, made another successful rehab appearance, this time at low Single-A Hagerstown. Kimball started for the Suns, going one inning, allowing one hit and no runs and striking out two batters. The Suns started him because there were weather concerns in Hagerstown, and they wanted to make sure Kimball got his work in. No details on his velocity were immediately available, but Kimball threw a "clean inning," according to a club source. Brian Goodwin crushed a three-run homer and Matt Skole hit his 15th home run, as Hagerstown beat Lakewood, 5-1. Meanwhile, Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo reported that third baseman Anthony Rendon is doing well and is back to doing "baseball stuff" in his recovery from a fractured left ankle. There were previous reports that the Nationals hope to get Rendon back for the last month of high Single-A Potomac's season, which would be sometime in August. If all goes well, there also could be a possibility that Rendon could get an exemption and play in the Arizona Fall League.
