Luis Garcia highlights Nats prospects on Arizona Fall League's Surprise roster

The Arizona Fall league today unveiled its 2019 rosters, which included the Surprise Saguaros, highlighted by Nationals shortstop prospect Luis Garcia. At 19, Garcia will be the third-youngest player in the Arizona Fall League. He is No. 77 on the MLBPipeline.com top 100 prospects.

The Nats will be well represented on the pitching staff with right-handers Jacob Condra-Bogan, Andrew Lee and Sterling Sharp, and left-hander Nick Raquet.

Condra-Bogan is a 2017 32nd-round selection pitching for Double-A Harrisburg. Lee was an 11th-round pick in 2015 and also is with the Senators. Raquet is a 2017 third-rounder with high Single-A Potomac. Sharp is a 2016 22nd-round pick pitching for Harrisburg.

Catching these hurlers is veteran backstop Jakson Reetz. The 2014 third-rounder from Hickman, Neb., was a 2019 Carolina League All-Star.

A pair of his teammates who were also Carolina League All-Stars, join the Surprise outfield in All-Star Game MVP Nick Banks and Cole Freeman. Banks has since been promoted to Harrisburg.

The Saguaros are made up of prospects from the Nats, Orioles, Rangers, Yankees and Royals, and play in the West Division alongsidethe Glendale Desert Dogs and Peoria Javelinas.

Rookie-level Gulf Coast League pitching coach Larry Pardo is a part of the Saguaros coaching staff. Surprise plays its home games at the Peoria Sports Complex, and begins its season Sept. 18 at Glendale.

Update: Due to the track of Tropical Storm Dorian, the Rookie-level Gulf Coast League has canceled the remaining three days of the season. The GCL Nats finished 26-23 on a five-game win streak, just 1 1/2 games out of first place in the East Division.
