Machado out of Orioles lineup for series finale

DETROIT - Orioles third baseman Manny Machado is out of today's lineup due to a sore right index finger.

Machado-Throws-Gray-Sidebar.jpgThe discomfort in the finger apparently was caused by Machado fouling off a couple of pitches.

Machado has started all 38 games this season. He's batting .224/.308/.441 with six doubles, nine home runs and 23 RBIs.

Ryan Flaherty gets the start at third base today.

This isn't the worst game for Machado to sit out, considering his reaction last night to umpire CB Bucknor's ruling on his checked swing. Bucknor is behind the plate this afternoon.

Trey Mancini is in left field and he moves up to second in the order. Adam Jones drops to third. Caleb Joseph is catching.
