Machado update

The MRI on Manny Machado's left knee found that he has a patellar sublaxation. I am not a doctor and cannot give more inside info on that, but it still doesn't appear to be too serious. While Machado is likely to go on the seven-day disabled list, it remains possible that he will not. If the club sees improvement in the next day or two, he may not go on the DL and could return to action in less than a week. Machado will remain with the Shorebirds, who are currently on a road trip in Asheville, N.C. He is expected to see Orioles' team orthopedist Dr. John Wilckens next Monday or Tuesday. Machado got injured in the top of the first last night during Delmarva's game at Asheville. The Shorebirds had the bases loaded and he was on second base when Mike Flacco lined a ball that went all the way to the wall. Thinking the drive might be caught, Machado's initial move was back toward second base. As he reversed to move toward third as the ball fall in, Machdado went to the ground. He had to be helped from the field. "My leg just got caught. It buckled," Machado told MASNsports.com this morning. Machado is batting .333 through 25 games with six doubles, two triples, five homers and 21 RBIs. He has an on-base percentage of .450, a slugging percentage of .611 and an OPS of 1.062. Over his previous nine games, Machado had hit .438 (14-for-32) with five homers and 13 RBIs and six multi-hit contests. He entered last night's game tied for second in the South Atlantic League with 19 walks and tied for fifth in RBIs.
