Means removed from active roster (plus Orioles lineup)

The Orioles made an unexpected roster move this morning, placing left-hander John Means on the family medical emergency list and recalling right-hander Tayler Scott from Triple-A Norfolk.

Means started last night and held the Rays to one run in seven innings.

A player must remain inactive for a minimum of three days and no more than seven.

No details have been provided.

The Orioles have two off-days this week and Means will start again next weekend in Kansas City. He attended high school in Gardner, Kan.

Scott has appeared in five games with the Orioles and allowed 16 runs and 14 hits in 5 2/3 innings. He's walked five batters and surrendered five home runs.

The results have been much better with Triple-A Norfolk. He hasn't allowed a run in 15 innings, with two walks and 19 strikeouts. He hasn't pitched for the Tides since Aug. 19.

Jonathan Villar and Hanser Alberto are batting first and second again today. Trey Mancini is playing first base and batting third.

Chris Davis is on the bench for the series finale. Anthony Santander is in left field and batting cleanup.

Bundy-Throws-White-KC-Sidebar.jpgDylan Bundy has made three starts against the Rays this season and allowed 10 runs and 14 hits in 13 1/3 innings.

Avisaíl García is 6-for-13 with a double and home run lifetime against Bundy. Kevin Kiermaier is 5-for-15 with a double and two home runs.

The Rays are starting right-hander Diego Castillo, who's 2-6 with a 3.44 ERA and 1.309 WHIP in 50 games, including four starts. He's averaging 3.8 walks and 10.5 strikeouts per nine innings.

Davis homered off Castillo last season.
