Minor league playoff updates on the GCL and DSL O's and Miclat's injury

The Orioles' minor league clubs in the Gulf Coast League and the Dominican Summer League are both taking part in playoff games this afternoon. The DSL Orioles are tied 1-1 in a best-of-three series with the DSL Royals and are playing the third and deciding game now with the score tied 1-1 in the fifth. The winner of that game will advance to the Dominican League best-of-five championship series against the Angels. The DSL Orioles were 46-24 in the regular season and that was the second best record in the Dominican Summer League. The Gulf Coast League playoffs begin today and the Orioles are playing the Yankees there too. It's a one-game playoff to advance to a best-of-three, GCL championship series. Today's game was set to start at Noon in the GCL and Jaime Esquivel (5-1, 0.95) is the scheduled starter for the Orioles. Meanwhile, Bowie second baseman Greg Miclat recently suffered a left thumb injury and will see a hand specialist on Monday to determine the severity of the injury. With so few games remaining, nine now for Bowie, it's possible Miclat could miss the remainder of the season. In 120 Baysox games, he is batting .280 with two homers and 24 RBIs. His 50 stolen bases leads all O's minor leaguers and he has been caught stealing just three times all year.
