Moore surpasses home run record

With his 29th blast this season, Potomac Nationals first baseman Tyler Moore broke the franchise record for homers in a season, set by Hensley Meulens and Nate Dishington, in an 11-4 rout at Frederick Friday from Harry Grove Stadium.
With the victory, the P-Nats maintain a hold on first place in the Carolina League's Northern division.
Moore now has 104 RBI, which is nine shy of Tyler Farnsworth's franchise record of 113 RBI in 2000 when he won the team's only Player of the Year honors in the Carolina League.
Moore is the odds-on favorite to win the P.O.Y. honors this season in the league. He has won player of the week honors four times.
"Bamm Bamm" Meulens, currently the hitting coach for the San Francisco Giants, hit 28 homers in 1987 for Potomac and Dishington cranked 28 in 1997.
Saturday, Nationals pitcher Ross Detwiler will make a rehab start for the P-Nats, working three innings against the Keys with no pitch limit. Detwiler has been on the disabled list since early August with a sore hip.
