Left-hander Zach Britton tossed five scoreless innings today in Double-A Bowie's 9-0 win over Harrisburg.
Britton allowed two hits, didn't walk a batter and struck out two while improving his record to 2-2 with a 3.60 ERA. Unfortunately, he was hit in the chest by a comebacker on his third pitch of the fifth inning and eventually left the game.
I doubt that it's serious or he would have come out immediately, but I might have an update later.
Former starter Pedro Beato followed Britton to the mound and shut out Harrisburg on one hit over three innings.
First baseman Joel Guzman went 4-for-5 with a double, RBI and three runs scored. Left fielder Tyler Henson hit a two-run homer.
Meanwhile, Triple-A Norfolk's Robert Andino has homered twice and driven in four runs. Scott Moore and Josh Bell hit two-run homers.
Jake Arrieta has a one-hit shutout through four innings.
Update: Arrieta gave up two runs in the fifth, but Norfolk is holding a 12-2 lead. Arrieta has walked five batters. That's an area that must be addressed before he's ready for the majors.
Arrieta has thrown 92 pitches, 49 for strikes.
His final line: 5 innings, 2 hits, 2 runs, 5 walks, 3 strikeouts, 1 hit batter.
Michael Aubrey is 3-for-3 with a double, RBI and two runs scored.
The Single-A Frederick Keys placed catcher Wally Crancer on the voluntary retired list.
