Morning notes from camp (updated)

SARASOTA, Fla. - Left-hander Johan Santana walked through the clubhouse this morning. He's got a locker set up and will talk to reporters following the workout. santana-first-workout-tall.jpgApproximate time is 12:30 p.m. Infielder Alexi Casilla will test his hamstring by hitting outdoors today. He's making slow progress. First baseman Chris Marrero, who's been sidelined with an oblique injury for most of camp, will take some dry swings today. He attempted to throw recently and still experienced discomfort on his side. "It's a weird injury," he said. "I've never had it before. I'm just listening to what they tell me to do." Kevin Gausman is wearing prescription glasses during today's workout, giving him sort of a Kevin Gregg look. Or maybe it's Ricky Vaughn from "Major League." Gausman, who's far-sighted, said he's tired of wearing contacts, but he isn't sure whether he'll experiment with the glasses during a game. His vision becomes blurry when he looks down and causes headaches. Darren O'Day threw with scout Todd Frohwirth on flat ground yesterday and will watch video and throw a bullpen session for him today. Frohwirth is in camp to teach O'Day how to throw a changeup from a sidearm delivery. "It's going good," he said. "Yesterday was really the first day that we worked together. Just working on trying to get a changeup. That's something else to offer. "It's going well. He did it for a long time and he's got a unique perspective on it and he's an excellent coach because he's been coaching (high school) basketball for so long, so he knows how to get the most out of his guys." Frohwirth actually threw from a lower arm slot - more of a submarine style - but it's close enough that O'Day can relate to him. "He came in with an open mind and a lot of knowledge, so it's been helpful," O'Day said. Update: Suk-min Yoon will fly to Ottawa on March 10 to obtain his work visa. The date keeps getting pushed back. Yoon could pitch in a simulated game over the weekend, which is permitted without a visa.
