Nationals reliever Cole Kimball to rehab in Hagerstown, DeRosa playing third for P-Nats

A club source confirmed that Nationals right-handed reliever Cole Kimball will be reporting to low Single-A Hagerstown on Friday. Kimball had a solid outing with the Gulf Coast League Nationals, going one inning and allowing no runs, one hit and one strikeout on June 19. I visited with several Potomac Nationals today at batting practice in Woodbridge, Va. Shortstop Ricky Hague said he will play short and second with the arrival of shortstop Jason Martinson from Hagerstown. Martinson said he will play third base when Hague plays short, and also will play second and be the designated hitter on occasion. Outfielder J.P. Ramirez reported it was his lower back that slowed him last season, but he is good to go and feeling 100 percent healthy now with Potomac. Ramirez said he will play left and right field for the P-Nats. The team is anxious to get the second half of the season started and would like to clean up its dismal road record. Nationals infielder Mark DeRosa is playing third base and batting third tonight for the P-Nats as he rehabs a left oblique strain that has kept him out since April 28. Double-A Harrisburg Senators outfielder Destin Hood remains at short-season Auburn on a rehab assignment as he recovers from a wrist injury.
