Norris gets first win, Davis gets 100th RBI as O's top Houston

For the Orioles, the offense finally came. And it came in time for Bud Norris to get the win in his Orioles debut. The O's scored three in the fifth, twice in the sixth and once in the seventh tonight to beat Houston 6-3 and take the series, two wins to one. The game also featured another Chris Davis homer. His solo shot off Travis Blackley in the seventh was his 39th homer and RBI No. 100. Davis recorded the 39th 100-RBI season in Orioles history and first since Nick Markakis drove in 101 in 2009. Making his first O's start after yesterday's trade, Norris beat his former team. He pitched six innings allowing four hits and two runs with two walks and a season-high eight strikeouts. He gave up solo homers to Brett Wallace in the second and Marc Krauss in the fourth. This was Norris' 14th quality start in 22 games and the O's 13th in the last 18 games. Jim Johnson pitched the ninth to record his 37th save. As the O's came to bat in the fifth they trailed 2-0 and had gone without a run in the last 15 innings in this series. But an error by shortstop Jonathan Villar opened the door and Nate McLouth and Manny Machado tied the game 2-2 with RBI singles before the O's went ahead on a Markakis sac fly. In the sixth, four consecutive two-out singles, the last two by Brian Roberts and McLouth, made it 5-2. Davis' homer capped the scoring for an O's team that had plated just 19 runs in losing six of the previous eight games. McLouth's two RBIs tonight matched his output from the previous 24 games and Markakis had gone 11 games without an RBI and had just one in his previous 22 games. The Orioles improved to 60-49 on the year and they welcome the Seattle Mariners to town Friday for the start of a three-game series.
