Orioles and Red Sox lineups, Coulombe update

BOSTON – The Orioles finish their series in Boston with Austin Slater in right field and Emmanuel Rivera at third base.

Jackson Holliday is playing second base and batting eighth.

Dean Kremer is coming off his six scoreless innings against the Rays, when he allowed only two hits. He’s registered four quality starts in his last five outings.

Kremer hasn’t faced the Red Sox this season. He’s made eight career starts against them and posted a 6.45 ERA and 1.540 WHIP. He’s 0-3 with a 10.47 ERA 2.082 WHIP in four starts at Fenway Park.

Rafael Devers is 7-for-18 with a double and two home runs lifetime against Kremer.

Weird observation: Kremer has appeared in 92 major league games (91 starts) and both right-handers and left-handers are batting .252 against him. He’s 29-29.

The Orioles are a half-game out of first place.

Jordan Westburg took some dry swings in front of the dugout earlier today to test his right hand. He also threw and did more fielding drills.

Left-hander Danny Coulombe tossed a scoreless inning today with Triple-A Norfolk in his first rehab appearance, allowing one hit and striking out one. He threw 10 pitches, nine for strikes.

Boston right-hander Nick Pivetta is 5-10 with a 4.38 ERA and 1.151 WHIP in 23 games. He’s allowed three runs in his last two starts over 12 innings.

Pivetta allowed three runs and three hits in five innings in his only start against the Orioles this season. He’s 8-3 with a 3.33 ERA and 1.082 WHIP in 13 career starts against them.

Cedric Mullins, who homered twice last night, is 10-for-28 with two doubles and two homers against Pivetta. He’s batting second again.
