Orioles and Mets lineups at Citi Field

NEW YORK – Austin Slater is leading off tonight at Citi Field and Eloy Jiménez is the designated hitter, as the Orioles go right-handed heavy with their lineup against the Mets.

Colton Cowser is in center field, one of three left-handers to avoid the bench, and Anthony Santander is in right.

Trevor Rogers is making his fourth start with the Orioles. He’s 0-2 with a 7.53 ERA and 1.884 WHIP in only 14 1/3 innings.

Overall, Rogers is 2-11 this season with a 4.89 ERA and 1.571 WHIP in 24 starts. He faced the Mets on July 21 and allowed one earned run and two total in 4 2/3 innings. He has a 3.35 ERA in nine career starts against them and a 2.73 ERA in six starts at Citi Field.

Pete Alonso is 3-for-20 with two home runs.

Rogers averages 11.9 strikeouts per nine innings against the Mets, among the highest rates all-time.

Gunnar Henderson has scored 98 runs this season. Roberto Alomar (116) and Frank Robinson (102) are the only Orioles to reach 100 before September per STATS.

Henderson joins Manny Machado in 2015 and Boog Powell in 1964 as Orioles with at least 33 home runs before turning 24.

The Orioles and Yankees are tied for first place in the division race. The Mets are in third place in the National League East at 64-60, nine games behind the first-place Phillies and two back for a wild card.

Orioles pitchers have held opponents to a .294 on-base percentage on the road, lowest in the majors per STATS.

The Orioles have hit at least one home run in 13 straight games, the longest active streak in the majors per STATS following their 22-game stretch earlier this season. They’ve had multiple streaks of 13-plus games in a single season twice before, in 2013 and in 1998.

Mets left-hander David Peterson is 7-1 with a 3.04 ERA and 1.394 WHIP in 13 starts. He’s surrendered only six home runs.

Peterson, who didn't make his season debut until May 29, has allowed only three earned runs this month in 17 1/3 innings. He’s allowed two earned runs or fewer in 11 of his starts.

The former first-round draft pick has made three career appearances against the Orioles, including two starts, and surrendered four runs and 11 hits in 9 2/3 innings.

The Orioles swept the Mets in a three-game series at Camden Yards last summer. However, they’re 6-13 all-time against them in New York, and that doesn’t count the 1969 World Series.

The Mets are 33-32 at home this season. The Orioles are 15-19 in interleague play. But they’ve gone 36-24 on the road this season, with a chance to post back-to-back winning percentages of .600 or better away from home for the first time since 1969-70 per STATS.
