Orioles and Twins lineups (updated)

Chris Davis isn't in the Orioles lineup for tonight's series opener against the Twins in Minnesota.

Davis had to leave the club Wednesday for personal reasons, but manager Brandon Hyde said the first baseman would join the team in Minnesota.

The Twins are starting left-hander Martín Pérez and Davis is 3-for-19 with 10 strikeouts lifetime against him.

Davis was 2-for-17 with a home run at the old Metrodome, but he's slashed .338/.368/.723 with seven doubles and six home runs in 68 plate appearances at Target Field.

Trey Mancini is playing first base tonight and Stevie Wilkerson is in right field.

The Orioles faced Pérez in Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader and totaled four runs and six hits in six innings. Alberto and Renato Núñez homered off him in a 16-7 loss.

Pérez has won both decisions this season but is sporting a 5.31 ERA and 1.770 WHIP in 20 1/3 innings. He's averaging 5.3 walks per nine innings.

Villar is 2-for-11 with two home runs against him. Mancini is 4-for-10 and Núñez 3-for-6 with two home runs.

Alex Cobb makes his third start of the season. Nelson Cruz is 8-for-23 (.348) with two doubles and two home runs against him.

The Twins swept a three-game series at Camden Yards and are 9-1 against the Orioles dating back to last season.

Reliever Nate Karns resumed his injury rehab assignment last night at Double-A Bowie and allowed two runs and two hits with a walk in one inning, He threw 16 of 22 pitches for strikes.

Karns is expected to work another inning for the Baysox and the Orioles will decide whether to extend him to two innings with an affiliate or activate him from the injured list.

Forearm tightness interrupted Karn's assignment after one appearance at Triple-A Norfolk. He returned to Baltimore, threw a bullpen session and was cleared to pitch again.

Hunter Harvey allowed one hit over five scoreless innings in his best start of the season.

MASNsports.com's Steve Melewski is in Minnesota. I'll rejoin the team next week in Chicago.

Update: Davis is with the team. He's just out of the lineup.
