The Orioles today announced that they have recalled infielder Josh Bell from Triple-A Norfolk and infielder Pedro Florimon from Double-A Bowie, selected the contracts of right-handed pitcher Jeremy Accardo and left-handed Clay Rapada from the Tides and activated infielder/outfielder Chris Davis from the disabled list. To make room for Accardo and Rapada on the 40-man roster, infielder Blake Davis and left-handed pitcher Mark Hendrickson have been designated for assignment.
Bell, 24, batted .253 (100-395) with 19 home runs in 101 games with Norfolk and .174 (8-for-46) in 17 games with Baltimore this season.
Florimon, 24, hit .267 (121-454) with 60 RBIs in 133 games with Bowie. He will make his major league debut and wear uniform No. 61.
Accardo, 29, was 1-1 with a 2.16 ERA (33.1 IP, 8 ER) in 26 games for Norfolk. He pitched to a 3-3 record and 5.29 ERA (32.1IP, 19 ER) in 25 games with the Orioles earlier this season.
Rapada, 30, posted a 3.92 ERA (20.2 IP, 9 ER) and 0-1 record in 26 games for the Tides. He has a 7.30 ERA (12.1 IP, 10 ER) in 22 games for Baltimore this year.
Chris Davis, 25, batted .225 (9-for-40) in 10 games for the Orioles after being acquired in a trade from Texas on July 30. He was placed on the disabled list on Aug. 16 with a right shoulder strain. Davis has hit .241 (28-116) in 38 games combined between the Orioles and Rangers in 2011.
Blake Davis, 27, hit .254 (15-59) in 25 games for the Orioles this year. Hendrickson, 37, posted a 5.73 ERA (11.0 IP, 7 ER) in eight games for Baltimore this season
