Orioles batters a hit with A's (O's lose 5-4)

For those of you keeping score at home, Oakland pitchers have hit three Orioles in tonight's game. Starter Jeff Samardzija nailed Caleb Joseph and J.J. Hardy, the latter taking a shot to the back of the helmet. Not to be outdone, reliever Ryan Cook hit Adam Jones on the left shoulder in the top of the eighth inning, the ball coming dangerously close to the face. I'm not suggesting that the pitches were intentional, but that's not going to make the Orioles feel much better. Factor in Nelson Cruz fouling a ball off the top of his left foot, and there will be some pain with this potential gain. The Orioles lead 4-2 after Manny Machado's two-run shot in the seventh. He knows salsa and crowd silencing. Chris Tillman registered his seventh quality start in his last eight outings, allowing two runs and four hits in 6 2/3 innings. He's permitted three earned runs or fewer in 28 of his last 36 road starts dating back to July 4, 2012. If the lead holds up, Tillman will improve to 7-0 on the road this season. Tommy Hunter has retired all four batters he's faced. He hasn't allowed an earned run in his last 11 appearances, a career high, over 13 2/3 innings. Update: It was a night of revenge. Josh Donaldson hit a walk-off three-run homer off Zach Britton to give Oakland a 5-4 win over the Orioles. Yoenis Cespedes reached on an infield hit and Brandon Moss followed with a broken-bat single to right, setting the stage for Donaldson. Britton suffered his third blown save. He hadn't allowed a run in 10 straight appearances since Carlos Beltran's walk-off three-run homer on June 20 at Yankee Stadium.
