Orioles lineup vs. Marlins to begin second half

The Orioles begin the second half of the season with a three-game series against Marlins and Gunnar Henderson staying at shortstop tonight and atop the order.

Ryan Mountcastle is on the bench. Ryan O’Hearn gets the start at first base.

Jordan Westburg is playing third base. Aaron Hicks is in right field, with Anthony Santander serving as designated hitter.

Cedric Mullins is batting sixth behind All-Star Austin Hays.

Orioles starters have strung together five quality starts in a row during a five-game winning streak, posting a 1.67 ERA during that stretch.

Dean Kremer finished the first half by holding the Yankees to one earned run (two total) with 10 strikeouts in seven innings. He’s never faced the Marlins.

Joey Wendle is 2-for-4 with a double and home run against Kremer.

The Marlins open the second half by starting Cy Young Award winner Sandy Alcantara, who’s 3-7 with a 4.72 ERA and 1.251 WHIP in 18 starts. He made 32 starts last season and was 14-9 with a 2.28 ERA, 0.980 WHIP and six complete games.

Alcantara has faced the Orioles once and allowed three runs in six innings. Adam Frazier, who’s playing second base tonight, is 5-for-12 with a double and home run against him. Hays and Mullins also have homered.

Luis Arraez leads the majors with a .383 average, 126 hits and a .434 on-base percentage. He was 2-for-2 with an RBI in the All-Star Game.

The Marlins are 53-39 and set a franchise record for most wins before the break. They’ve tied a season high at 14 games above .500.

Their .265 average ranks third in the majors.

Reliever Tanner Scott returns to Camden Yards. He has a 2.91 ERA and 1.085 WHIP in 43 appearances and has struck out 64 batters in 43 1/3 innings.

The Orioles are 7-14 all-time at home against the Marlins and 3-14 on the road.

The Orioles signed Ball State right-hander Ty Weatherly, 22, as an undrafted free agent.

Weatherly spent five seasons with the Cardinals and posted a 6.85 ERA and 1.731 WHIP in 54 games (21 starts). He averaged 8.1 walks and 10.8 strikeouts per nine innings.

Baltimore native Angel Reese, captain of the NCAA champion LSU women’s basketball team, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch before Tuesday night’s game against the Dodgers.
