Orioles lose Ort to waiver claim, tonight's lineups

The Astros claimed reliever Kaleb Ort on waivers from the Orioles earlier today. The Orioles’ 40-man roster is down to 39 players.

Ort had a 12.08 ERA and 2.447 WHIP in 14 relief appearances with Triple-A Norfolk. The Orioles acquired him from the Phillies on Feb. 19 for cash considerations.

Ryan O’Hearn is the first baseman tonight as the series continues against the Red Sox. Ryan Mountcastle is on the bench.

Cedric Mullins is in center field again after yesterday’s two-run triple. Colton Cowser is in left field and batting cleanup. Kyle Stowers is the designated hitter after going 3-for-4 yesterday with a career-high four RBIs.

Jorge Mateo stays at second base. Fifteen of his 25 hits have gone for extra bases.

Mountcastle has a season-high six-game hitting streak. He’s slugging .885 against off-speed pitches this season.

Grayson Rodriguez is 5-1 with a 3.20 ERA and 1.333 WHIP in eight starts. He’s struck out 51 batters and surrendered only four home runs in 45 innings.

In his last three starts, Rodriguez has allowed only three runs and nine hits over 16 2/3 innings. He walked a career-high five batters Thursday in Chicago.

Rodriguez faced the Red Sox on April 11 in Boston and allowed two runs in 5 2/3 innings. He’s surrendered four earned runs and six total in two career starts covering 10 innings.

The Orioles have won five games in a row since the sweep in St. Louis and are a season-high 16 above .500. They trail the first-place Yankees by 1 ½.

The Orioles have won their first four games against the Red Sox to start the season for the first time since 1967.

Also, the Orioles are 28-0 when outhitting their opponent.

Right-hander Brayan Bello makes his ninth start for the Red Sox. He’s registered a 4.04 ERA and 1.157 WHIP in 42 1/3 innings.

Bello has a 4.02 ERA and 1.277 WHIP in three career starts against the Orioles. Colton Cowser is 2-for-2 with two doubles. Mullins is 4-for-6.

Bello faced the Orioles April 9 and allowed one earned run and three total in 5 1/3 innings.
