Orioles purchase Fatse's contract from independent team

In case I failed to mention this transaction in a previous entry, I'll pass along today that the Orioles have purchased the contract of infielder/outfielder Peter Fatse from the Newark Bears, according to the independent league team's Web site. It's more minor league depth, and another player from Massachusetts (Hampden, to be exact.) Here's what I know about Fatse after doing a little research: He's 24 and a former 24th-round pick of the Milwaukee Brewers out of the University of Connecticut in the 2009 First-Year Player Draft. The Brewers took Fatse with the 25th selection in the round, after the Orioles chose left-hander Justin Anderson with the fourth. He spent two years in Milwaukee's system before signing with independent Pittsfield in 2011. Newark selected his contract in Pittsfield's dispersal draft on Oct. 14, 2011 after he batted .279/.345/.418 with 12 doubles, four triples, five homers, 41 RBIs, 17 stolen bases and 43 runs scored in 74 games. The Bears sold his contract to the Orioles, making him the first player from the Cam-Am League to join a major league organization this year. Fatse is a left-handed hitter who can play all three outfield positions, along with second and third base. Just not at the same time. I also know that his last name allows for plenty of jokes. And at least one fan is going to make a reference to ordering playoff tickets.
