The Orioles today announced that they have recalled right-hander Mike Wright from Triple-A Norfolk and placed right-hander Miguel Gonzalez on the 15-day disabled list (retroactive to June 10) with a right groin strain.
Wright, 25, became the second Orioles starter in club history to begin his Major League career with two consecutive scoreless starts (also, Tom Phoebus, September 15-20, 1966) after tossing 14.1 scoreless innings over his first two outings, May 17-23. He has made four starts with the Orioles this season, going 2-1 with a 2.96 ERA (24.1IP, 8ER). In seven starts with Triple-A Norfolk this season, Wright went 4-0 with a 2.45 ERA (36.2IP, 10ER) and 36 strikeouts.
Gonzalez, 31, went 5-4 with a 3.33 ERA (73.0IP, 27ER) over 12 starts with the Orioles this season.
