The Orioles today announced that they have selected the contracts of right-handers Tyler Wilson and Mike Wright.
Wilson, 25, was the Jim Palmer Minor League Pitcher of the Year in 2014, going a combined 14-8 with a 3.67 ERA in 166.2 innings for Double-A Bowie (10-5, 3.72 ERA in 96.2 IP over 16 starts) and Triple-A Norfolk (4-3, 3.60 ERA in 70.0 IP over 12 starts). He led all Orioles minor leaguers in wins (14) and strikeouts (157) and ranked 7th in ERA (3.67). Wilson was named the Organizational Pitcher of the Month for April, when he went 4-0 with a 2.76 ERA (29.1IP, 9ER) in five starts for the Baysox. He also received Eastern League Pitcher of the Week honors for the week ending April 27. Wilson was selected by the Orioles in the 10th round of the 2011 First Year Player Draft out of the University of Virginia.
Wright, 24, went 5-11 with a 4.61 ERA (142.2IP, 73ER) in 26 starts for Triple-A Norfolk in 2014, going 2-1 with a 0.30 ERA (29.2IP, ER) in his final four starts. In four minor league seasons, Wright has gone 29-21 with a 4.08 ERA (447.1IP, 203ER) in 85 games (81 starts). He was originally selected by the Orioles in the 3rd round of the 2011 First Year Player Draft out of Eastern Carolina University.
The Orioles now have 37 players on their 40-man major league roster.
