While the Orioles figure out how to create room on their roster for starter Wei-Yin Chen, one player fighting to hold onto his spot will have a bobblehead in his likeness distributed at Camden Yards.
Outfielder Steve Pearce has been selected as the AT&T Fans' Choice Bobblehead. He received more votes than Chen, closer Zach Britton, reliever Darren O'Day and starter Bud Norris.
The bobblehead will be distributed on Oct. 4 to the first 25,000 fans age 15 and over as part of "Fan Appreciation Weekend."
For the fourth consecutive year, fans were able to select which player they wanted immortalized in a bobblehead giveaway at Camden Yards. Voting began on March 31 and concluded April 30.
This will be Pearce's first bobblehead with the Orioles, but you probably already made that assumption.
Fans are encouraged to purchase their tickets in advance and arrive early to the 3:05 p.m. game against the Yankees.
As for the roster crunch, I've heard that the Orioles are checking around the majors for potential trade partners. They apparently want to hold onto outfielder/first baseman Chris Parmelee, but others are in play, including Pearce and Nolan Reimold.
It's also possible that the Orioles use the disabled list to create a spot for Chen, who starts tonight's series opener against the Indians at Camden Yards.
As always, stay tuned.
