The Orioles made two more roster moves following tonight's 6-4, 14-inning win over the Dodgers.
Outfielder Dariel Alvarez has been optioned to Triple-A Norfolk and left-hander Jayson Aquino has been optioned to Double-A Bowie, leaving the 25-man roster two players short going into Thursday's off day.
Alvarez's departure was anticipated because Pedro Alvarez will come off the bereavement list on Friday, when the Orioles open a three-game series against the Angels at Camden Yards that closes the first half of the season.
The Orioles have been carrying eight relievers and only four starters after optioning Tyler Wilson to Norfolk. They can add another pitcher on Friday.
Manager Buck Showalter told reporters in Los Angeles that the choices for Friday's starter come down to Ubaldo Jimenez and Mike Wright. The latter is scheduled to start Thursday for Triple-A Norfolk.
Does Wright replace Aquino?
Closer Zach Britton is the only left-hander in the bullpen with Aquino headed back to the Eastern League.
Dariel Alvarez walked today as a pinch-hitter in his only plate appearance with the Orioles this season after they recalled him on Monday. Aquino also was recalled on Monday and made his major league debut later that night, retiring both batters he faced at Dodger Stadium.
