Peacock falls in Triple-A debut; Solis wins; Wang update

Right-hander Brad Peacock took the loss in his debut for the Triple-A Syracuse Chiefs on Saturday night. He got roughed up a bit in the first inning against Lehigh Valley, allowing two homers, one a three-run shot, in a five-run initial frame. Lehigh Valley won the game 8-6. Peacock was left in and made it to the fifth inning. He posted zeroes in innings two through four. He then allowed a one-out single, hit a batter and was replaced. Zech Zinicola later gave up a three-run home run. Peacock finished 4 1/3 innings, allowing six hits, seven runs, six earned, two walks, four strikeouts and those two round trippers. He threw 79 pitches, 44 for strikes. Obviously, Peacock did not want to start out the way he did, but watching the coaching staff leave him in to get to the fifth and his ability to settle down and put up three scoreless innings are positive steps to build on. Right-hander Chien-Ming Wang will start for the Chiefs on Tuesday against the Buffalo Bisons. Wang is 2-0 with a 1.00 ERA in four rehab starts as he recovers from right shoulder surgery. If Wang can deliver again, there is a good chance the Nationals will make the decision to bring him up before the 30-day rehab assignment expires July 27. Sammy Solis notched another win as the Single-A Potomac Nationals beat Kinston 5-3 in game one of a doubleheader on Saturday. Solis went six innings, scattered eight hits, allowed only three runs with two walks and a season-high nine strikeouts. He allowed a pair of solo homers in the second inning, but overall put together one of his best outings of his young career. Solis is now 3-0 with a 2.84 ERA.
