Post-game Notes: Jays take series finale

Roy Halladay today became a career 20-game winner vs. the Orioles. In eight innings he gave up nine hits and three runs (two earned) with one walk and four strikeouts. He threw 107 pitches, 79 strikes. He is 12-5, 2.73 on the year. Halladay improved to 2-0, 3.13 in three starts on the year vs. the O's and 20-4, 2.89 in 31 games, 27 career starts vs. Baltimore covering 193 innings. Halladay won for just the second time in his last nine starts and Toronto is now 12-10 in his 22 starts in 2009. Not his day - Losing pitcher Brian Matusz allowed three homers, five runs and seven hits in just 2 2/3 innings. He threw 62 pitches, 35 for strikes. Matusz is 1-1, 7.04 in two Major League starts. Matusz gave up just two homers in eight starts over 46 1/3 innings at Double-A with Bowie. Orioles pitching has given up an American League-leading 141 homers on the season. Birds pitchers have allowed at least one longball in 12 of the last 13 games, giving up 23 in that stretch. The O's did not hit one out today and have now gone four games without a homer, matching their longest stretch of the year. They have gone 38 innings since their last longball, by Adam Jones in the ninth, last Wednesday at Detroit. Road woes - The O's end this road trip going 2 and 5. They have lost 10 of their last 13 on the road and are 18-39 on the road on the season. The O's are now 6-6 vs. Toronto and 15-29 vs. the AL East. They are 3-18 in AL East road games. Cesar Izturis went 2 for 4 today with an RBI double. He is 7 for 17 over his last four games. Melvin Mora, in a 4 for 31 drought, went 2 for 3 with an RBI. Aubrey Huff went 0 for 3, snapping a seven-game batting streak. Huff hit .345 during the streak. The O's scored three runs or less for the 11th time since the All-Star break and are 0-11 in those games.
