As you know by now, Mark Reynolds' 450-foot blast into the second deck tied for the sixth-longest home run in the 20-year history of Camden Yards.
Here's a partial list:
Darryl Strawberry, 465, 6/17/98
Pedro Munoz, 463, 5/25/96
Jeffrey Hammonds, 460, 9/15/97
Mo Vaughn, 457, 7/796
Eric Davis, 452, 9/26/93
Mark Reynolds, 450, 8/7/11
Juan Gonzalez, 450, 7/26/92
Manny Ramirez, 450, 8/14/95
Russell Branyan, 450, 6/11/09
"It was cool," Reynolds said. "It is what it is. It all counts for one run." Reynolds has launched balls into the second deck during batting practice. "If you can do it in batting practice, you can do it in the game, right?" he said. "He (Ricky Romero) just threw me a low heater and I hit it pretty good. It's just one run and we ended up losing, so it's all for nothing." Is that the longest ball he's hit? "I think I've got a couple better in Arizona," he said. "The ball flies a little better out there." Too bad today's laser show didn't change the outcome. Reynolds said the Orioles' streak of failing to win a series is weighing on players. "We've had a lot of rubber matches with teams and we just can't get over that hump lately," he said. "It's frustrating, but at the same time, we're going to keep going out and keep playing and just keep grinding at it every day and try to win as many as we can going down the stretch."
