Brian Roberts was forced out of tonight's game with a strained left hip.
Let's hope his day-to-day is shorter than Adam Jones' day-to-day.
Josh Bell entered the game in the fourth and batted for Roberts in the sixth. He singled leading off the inning and scored with two outs on Luke Scott's infield hit, giving the Orioles a 2-1 lead.
Bell was supposed to get the night off. He's been in a terrible slump since his two-homer game, striking out seven times in 14 at-bats.
Julio Lugo, a surprise starter at third base tonight, moved over to second once Roberts exited the game.
Meanwhile, it's nice to see that Torii Hunter's baserunning instincts haven't changed since he visited Camden Yards.
Update: Bell is taking full advantage of his unexpected opportunity. He singled again in the eighth inning, moving Cesar Izturis to third base. Izturis scored on Corey Patterson's ground ball to second, giving the Orioles a 3-1 lead.
Brad Bergesen has been sensational, holding the Angels to one run and four hits, with no walks, over eight innings. He's thrown 102 pitches. I'd send him back out for the ninth. It's not like this team has a closer anyway.
