Roberts likely done for 2010 (w/Tyler update)

Brian Roberts remains out of the lineup tonight and he isn't expected to play tomorrow, ending his season after 59 games. Roberts has been bothered by headaches since the Tampa Bay trip. He's missed the last four games. Manager Buck Showalter has been vague when pressed for details about Roberts' condition, suggesting that reporters talk to the second baseman or a team physician. Roberts declined to meet with reporters today, but apparently will do so tomorrow afternoon. The medical staff normally is prohibited from speaking to the media. "He's about the same," Showalter said. "Unless something changes that we don't foresee, he's probably not going to play tomorrow, either. It's not worth the risk. He obviously has the same problems that he's had since Tampa." Roberts batted .278 with 14 doubles, four homers, 15 RBIs and 12 stolen bases in 14 attempts. He's been sidelined by a variety of injuries and ailments, including a herniated disk in his back, an abdominal strain, a bruised shin and a bout with pneumonia. Meanwhile, Adam Jones is out of the lineup after playing both ends of yesterday's doubleheader. He's just getting a rest. Long-time Orioles umpires attendant Ernie Tyler is currently in stable condition and staying overnight for observation at University of Maryland Medical Center after being rushed there earlier today. His sons, Jimmy and Fred, are with him. Doctors won't offer a diagnosis until they're done running full tests on Tyler, a member of the Orioles' Hall of Fame who worked 3,819 consecutive home games at Memorial Stadium and Camden Yards.
