Ryan Adams: "It's a huge opportunity for me"

During Ryan Adams first stay with the Orioles this year, the second baseman had 23 at-bats over 25 games. In his most recent stint, he has 18 at-bats in five games with the club. This time, Adams is getting to play every day and he is 7-for-18 (.389) in the five games since his recall from Triple-A, with three doubles and two RBIs. "I'm definitely excited and it's a huge opportunity for me," Adams said this morning in the Orioles' clubhouse. "My approach right now is to go out there and have as much fun as a I can." He feels more comfortable here now because of that first trip to the majors. "It was a huge help for this time," Adams said. "The first time I got called up, I didn't really know what to expect. I'd never been here before. It was just a good learning experience. It's all about finding that comfort zone and I have that from being called up the first time." Adams has been knocked for his defense and was asked if he has to prove himself more with the glove than the bat right now. "No, I am not looking to prove anything to anybody," he said. "I am just going to work as hard as I can and, at the end of the day, everything will work out." Adams is getting a chance to impress the coaching staff and even perhaps put himself in the second base mix if Brian Roberts doesn't return to reclaim his spot there. "I look at this as an opportunity but now as far as competition or anything like that," Adams said. "I just want to play hard and everything will work out."
