Schoop expects to play tonight (updated with lineup)

SARASOTA, Fla. - The Orioles haven't posted their lineup for tonight's home intrasquad game against the Twins, but second baseman Jonathan Schoop expects to be in it.

Schoop was scratched yesterday with bursitis in his left elbow, but he's feeling much better today.

"I'm doing good," he said. "I don't even know the name of it, but it's nothing to worry about. I think I'm playing today. Just wanted to take it easy yesterday, but I think I'm playing today."

"They say I hit it somewhere, but to be honest I don't remember," he said. "But it's something that I'm dealing with and it's going to go away they say probably in a few days. But I'm ready to play."

Pitcher Miguel Castro is receiving treatment for patella tendinitis in both knees and some soreness in his lower back. He won't make Sunday's start against the Red Sox in Fort Myers, but expects to throw a bullpen session on Tuesday.

"I felt something on my knees, like something pulling on the knees," Castro said through translator Ramón Alarcón. "I'm getting treatment for that and hopefully on Tuesday I'll get my bullpen session in."

Asked whether he's concerned about it, Castro replied, "No, not really. Not really concerned about it. I feel really good. The treatment has been going really well. The trainers have provided good treatment to me and I'm looking forward to Tuesday."

Castro had a similar issue in 2012.

"Every time I get treatment on it, it feels so much better and it gets better and that's just something that comes up," he said.

The back soreness became an issue after the knees. Castro has been stretching out in front of his locker to alleviate the discomfort

"Now with the treatment and getting the massages, it's feeling so much better right now," he said.

Pitchers listed today behind Rule 5 pick Nestor Cortes Jr. include Alec Asher, Tim Melville, Josh Edgin, Stefan Crichton and Tanner Scott.

Gabriel Ynoa opposes Red Sox left-hander Brian Johnson Sunday afternoon in Fort Myers.

Update: Schoop is batting second for tonight's game. Adam Jones is the designated hitter and Mark Trumbo is playing first base.
