Senators Hot Stove Dinner date set; Mesa wins nailbiter in Arizona

The Double-A Harrisburg Senators have announced their 5th annual Hot Stove Dinner will be January 24, 2015, at the Best Western Central Hotel and Conference Center in Harrisburg.

Headlining the event will be former Senators Josh Johnson, Steven Souza Jr. and Michael A. Taylor, as well as a special appearance by Doug Harris, the assistant general manager and vice president of player development for the Nationals.

Johnson played with the Senators from 2010-2013. In 2012 and 2013, he split time between Harrisburg and Triple-A Syracuse. He spent the entire 2014 season with the Chiefs.

Souza spent the 2013 season with the Senators, helping to lead the team to the Eastern League championship series. In 77 games with the Senators, he hit .300 with 15 home runs and 44 RBIs.

Taylor spent most of the 2014 season with the Senators, batting .313 while hitting 22 home runs and driving in 61. He also stole 34 bases and scored 74 runs before being promoted to Syracuse on Aug. 3.

Here is more from the Senators' press release on the event:

The evening begins with a cocktail hour at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m. The players will be available for autographs for a half-hour during the cocktail hour (6:15-6:45 p.m.). Throughout the evening, there will be a silent auction and, at the conclusion of the program, a raffle will place with the proceeds benefiting two local charities.

The seated dinner is $45 per person or $325 for a table of eight. Tickets are available online through the Senators website at www.senatorsbaseball.com or by calling Blair Jewell at 717-231-4444, ext. 122. The deadline to purchase a ticket for this event is Friday, Jan. 16.

* Mesa defeated Peoria 6-5 in 11 innings in Arizona Fall League play. Neil Holland (1-2) notched his first win of the fall campaign, pitching two innings, allowing one run on two hits, with two walks and two strikeouts. This was a pleasant positive outing for Holland, who has battled throughout the fall season.

Derek Self recorded his third save with a scoreless frame in the sixth in which he allowed no hits, a walk and struck out one. Tony Renda went 0-for-4. The Solar Sox managed to tie the game in the bottom of the ninth and 10th innings before winning it in the 11th.
