High Single-A Potomac got a big win in North Carolina Tuesday. The squad is now 1-16 in the Tar Heel State this season following a 4-1 win at Carolina.
Matt Skole, Adrian Sanchez and Kevin Keyes had two hits apiece. Keyes hit his 20th homer of the season and added a double. Sanchez also had a double and scored two runs.
But Skole's two RBIs are notable because he has reached 101 RBIs for the season. Skole joined teammate Jason Martinson (106 RBIs) and Tyler Moore (2010, 111 RBIs) as the only Washington minor league players to reach that distinguished plateau.
Matt Grace (9-12) went six innings, allowing six hits, one run, two walks and striking out six Mudcats, surrendering only a solo homer. Aaron Barrett notched a hold and Rob Wort got his 12th save.
Potomac still trails Wilmington by three games with six to play. Wilmington beat Myrtle Beach 6-5. Potomac ends the season with three games at Wilmington.
In Greensboro, Bryce Ortega was a single short of the cycle and Cutter Dykstra went 3-for-4 with an RBI as low Single-A Hagerstown dropped Greensboro 8-0. Wirkin Estevez also threw four scoreless innings.
In Richmond, Double-A Harrisburg dispatched the Flying Squirrels. Jose Lozada scored the winning run in a 2-1 decision. Trevor Holder pitched into the sixth inning and allowed seven hits and one run.
Anthony Rendon had a triple and scored the first run in the first inning. Pat McCoy, Marcos Frias and Ryan Tatusko held the Squirrels scoreless to preserve the lead.
Triple-A Syracuse's game at Charlotte was postponed, preventing the Nationals' system from a 3-0 record in North Carolina Tuesday.
