Strasburg allows two homers, Mets hold Nationals to four hits (Mets win 7-1)

The Mets grabbed the early lead on Stephen Strasburg in the first inning. Ian Desmond committed his sixth error of the season on a Jordany Valdespin grounder. Later, a Strasburg wild pitch scored a run and John Buck had a two-out RBI single. Buck already has 20 RBIs early in the season. The Mets led 2-0 after one inning. The Nationals were unable to record a base hit against Matt Harvey in first two innings. Update: Strasburg and Harvey are in a pitcher's duel through five innings. The first hit of the game for the Nationals was a Strasburg double. Mets still lead, 2-0. Ike Davis added a solo homer in the sixth inning to extend the Mets lead to 3-0. Lucas Duda contributed another homer one batter later, and the Mets take control with a 4-0 lead. Update II: Chad Tracy got the Nationals on the board with an RBI single in the top of the 7th, cutting the Mets lead to 4-1. The Nationals then loaded the bases with no outs. It was the Nationals best opportunity to score, but Harvey was able to record three consecutive outs to get out of the threat. Strasburg lasted six innings but threw 111 pitches. He surrendered four runs, two earned runs, two solo homers, five hits, two walks and six strikeouts. Update III: Drew Storen came on in the eighth and was greeted by two homers and a triple. Ike Davis made it his night with his second homer of the game, this time a two-run shot and the Mets extend their lead to 6-1 in the eighth inning. Duda also hit his second homer to make it 7-1 and that's how the game ended. Harvey outdueled Strasburg. Davis and Duda each smacked a pair of homers. Harvey (4-0) went seven innings and allowed only four hits and one run. Strasburg is 1-3 after four starts and has allowed five homers in his last five starts, including two multi-homer games.
