Street off the board?

That's the word on the street. According to multiple reports, the San Diego Padres are on the verge of acquiring closer Huston Street from the Colorado Rockies for a player to be named. The Padres are picking up most of Street's $7.5 million tab. The Orioles held discussions with the Rockies regarding Street, but they're not going to get him. Scratch another one off the list. Late-inning relief could wear a more familiar face. The Orioles and Rangers have met to discuss a trade that would bring Koji Uehara back to Baltimore. Uehara was 1-1 with a 1.72 ERA in 43 games with the Orioles, with 25 hits allowed, eight walks and 62 strikeouts in 47 innings. He gave up six home runs. After being traded to Texas on July 30 for pitcher Tommy Hunter and corner infielder Chris Davis, Uehara went 1-2 with a 4.00 ERA, 13 hits allowed, one walk and 23 strikeouts in 22 games covering 18 innings. He surrendered five home runs - the most glaring stat in the package. Uehara's stock dropped a lot more after he allowed five runs - including three homers - and five hits in 1 1/3 innings in the playoffs and was omitted from the World Series roster. You know it's bad when your ERA in the Division Series is listed as "infinity." There's no doubt that Uehara wants to pitch for the Orioles. His family still has a home in Baltimore. And he never found a real comfort zone in Texas. The question now is what are the Rangers asking in return. It can't be nearly as much as they gave up five months ago.
