Sure sign of spring: Autograph event at Dempsey's

Weather got you down? Tired of snow, ice and cold? I can empathize. In fact, I've had to make due for the past two storms with a snow shovel that's about to give up the ghost. Home Depot and Lowe's act as if it's never snowed in Baltimore in March. And all those bulbs and fertilizer don't exactly do a good job of moving the white stuff.

But spring is coming. I promise. And I'll bet I can make you feel like Orioles season is just a little bit closer.

Dempsey's Brew Pub and Restaurant at Camden Yards is hosting a special autograph event on Wednesday, March 18. For $20, you can get a signature from 1983 World Series MVP and current MASN broadcaster Rick Dempsey, plus a certificate of authenticity.

The event, sponsored by 410 Memorabilia, runs from 7-9 p.m.

Few former Orioles are as affable as the longtime catcher, coach and TV personality. Go ahead, try and get out of his pub without a story of the glory days past. I dare you.

If you've never been to Dempsey's, you don't know the culinary delight that is bacon on a stick. Or the creamy goodness of deep-fried Berger's Cookie sundae. Or the way the craft beers brewed on the premises hit the spot. And you can't beat the view of the field at Camden Yards, just the thing to make opening day seem a little closer.

Yep, feels like April 10 is just around the corner.
