Those O's like to play during the day

If they could just play a day game and have it decided by a single run, the Orioles would probably have a great chance for a win. The Birds are 24-12 in day games this year and a major league best 24-6 in one-run games. But now that they have a 5-1 lead on Chicago, they probably aren't interested in a one-run game. The Orioles put together a stunning power display with two outs and no one on in the last of the third today. They went solo homer by Taylor Teagarden, double by Nick Markakis, RBI double by J.J. Hardy, two-run homer by Adam Jones and double by Mark Reynolds. The inning ended with Lew Ford grounding out with the O's leading 4-1. The lead grew to 5-1 on Teagarden's second RBI in two innings when he hit a booming double to center in the fourth. Meanwhile, Zach Britton, with a good sinker and nasty slider, has fanned seven through four innings as he looks for his third win in his last three starts. He is 2-0 with an ERA of 1.32 in his previous two games. An Orioles win today would complete an excellent 5-1 homestand and send the team off to New York with some momentum. Remember when we wondering why the Orioles didn't play that well at home? They went 7-3 on the homestand before this one and have now won 12 of their last 16 home games. Overall, the Orioles have won four of five, seven of 10, 16 of 23 and 25 of the last 39 games. In the upcoming New York series, Miguel Gonzalez (5-3, 3.66 ERA) pitches against Hiroki Kuroda (12-9, 2.98 ERA) on Friday. It's Wei-Yin Chen (12-7, 3.78 ERA) against Freddy Garcia (7-4, 4.90 ERA) on Saturday. On Sunday, it's Chris Tillman (7-2, 3.26 ERA) against New York's David Phelps (3-4, 2.96 ERA).
