Tillman catches early break

The Nationals could be leading, 1-0, after the top of the first inning, but plate umpire Todd Tichenor ruled that Roger Bernadina was out of the batter's box while laying down a bunt on the second pitch of the game. Bernadina reached on an apparent single before being ruled out. Nationals manager Jim Riggleman earned an ejection from Tichenor, and I'm sure his mood didn't improve when Ian Desmond followed with a double to center field. Bernadina most likely would have scored on the double. Orioles starter Chris Tillman struck out Laynce Nix on a curveball and retired Jayson Werth on a ground ball to third - again getting the out with his curve. Tillman threw 16 pitches, 12 for strikes. I wanted to point out that I haven't received any comments to the blog in about nine hours. I'm not sure if everyone is preoccupied or we're experiencing a technical glitch. Things tend to slow down on Sundays, but not this much.
