Tonight's silver lining (updated twice)

Chris Tillman hasn't walked a batter in six innings. Tillman walked six in his first three starts covering 12 1/3 innings, including three on the night that he held the Rays hitless. Tillman has allowed three runs and six hits, with five strikeouts. He's retired nine in a row since Michael Cuddyer's double with no outs in the fourth. Nobody is warming in the Orioles' bullpen with Tillman's pitch count at 91, including 58 strikes. The Twins have gone down in order in the third, fifth and sixth innings. The Orioles had another opportunity in the fifth, getting a two-out single from Robert Andino and a Brian Roberts walk. Nick Markakis swung at the first pitch and grounded to first. Jake Fox began the inning by grounding out on the first pitch, and Matt Wieters took two pitches for strikes and swung through the third. Andino singled on the second pitch. If that ball was fielded, and it was a grounder up the middle, Francisco Liriano would have been back in the dugout after only six pitches. Update: Tillman retired 11 in a row before Robert Andino's two-out throwing error in the seventh. Clay Rapada replaced Tillman, who allowed three runs and six hits, walked none and struck out five. Tillman threw 96 pitches, 62 for strikes. Tillman left to a nice ovation. He should have gotten through the seventh with 12 straight retired. Rapada entered the game to face left-handed hitting Denard Span, who struck out looking. The Orioles began the night ranked last in the American League with 32 walks. They've drawn five tonight off Liriano. Tonight's attendance: 13,138 Update II: Adam Jones homered leading off the seventh, and Matt Wieters deposited a pitch into the Orioles' bullpen with one out. It just got very interesting here. Wieters' ball traveled an estimated 404 feet. Down on the farm, Brandon Snyder hit his second and third home runs tonight for Triple-A Norfolk, and Rhyne Hughes hit his first. I mentioned Nick Bierbrodt earlier. Well, he's pitching in relief tonight for the Tides.
