Toronto rallies in seventh to take game and series from the Orioles

This time the Orioles let the lead get away in the seventh inning. Trailing 5-3 heading to the last of the seventh, Toronto scored three runs then to post a come-from-behind 6-5 win over the Orioles.

Toronto took the series two wins to one and wins the season series, 12-6 against the Orioles. The Jays took two out of three in all six series between the clubs this season. With a win either yesterday or today, the Orioles would have had their first winning series in Toronto since June 6-8, 2008. In Toronto's seventh, David Cooper homered and two batters later a solo homer by former Oriole Adam Loewen tied the game at 5-5. A Jose Bautista sac fly made it a 6-5 game. Losing pitcher Tommy Hunter gave up six runs (four earned) over 6 1/3 innings to fall to 2-3 with an ERA of 6.04 with the Orioles. He has allowed four or more earned runs in seven of his eight Baltimore starts. Nick Markakis has two hits and two RBIs for the Orioles and now has nine RBIs over his last nine games. The Orioles, who fall to 58-87 on the season, host Tampa Bay on Monday night to begin a six-game homestand.
