Updates on Glover, Drew, Wieters and Baker's thoughts on Jones incident in Boston

Manager Dusty Baker had some updates on the progress of a few players who are currently on the disabled list.

Right-hander Koda Glover (left hip impingement) has been on the disabled list since April 26. Baker had some good news for his young reliever.

"Koda said he's feeling better," Baker said. "Again, I don't ask them every day how they're feeling. But I can sometimes tell by the look on their face, or when they start smiling, or if they're still kind of down about it. But Koda's a hard read. He walks with his head up and his shoulders back. He's a proud man, so he's a little tougher to read. I'll ask him, though, in a couple days."

Infielder Stephen Drew took grounders at short and third base during batting practice and looked good to go. Baker said Drew has been smiling, so that's a good sign. The veteran has been on the disabled list since April 12 with a right hamstring strain.

"Yes. He's been smiling, talking again," Baker said. "When he's talking, he's feeling good. He's been (does a little shimmy at the desk) very chipper."

That indicates to you he's getting close?

"Yeah. Very scientific," Baker smiled.

He also believes that Drew is likely to go on a rehab assignment.

"I guess. He's been out a long time," Baker said. "It's just a matter of how long it's going to be. I would imagine so, yeah."

Jose Lobaton gets the call behind the plate. Matt Wieters is feeling a little bit under the weather. Since 2014, the Nationals are 76-58 when Lobaton starts.

Baker was asked about the racial slurs that Orioles outfielder Adam Jones had reportedly been subjected to in their game in Boston last night. Also, Jones said a fan threw a bag of peanuts at him as he approached the dugout.

"I didn't see it," Baker said. "I didn't really hear about it until a few minutes ago because I don't really turn on the TV during the off days unless I'm watching sports, and yesterday wasn't one of those days.

"It doesn't really surprise me too much because I've been called that word in almost every city that I've played in. Minor leagues, big leagues, letters. So, it don't really shock me too much.

"From L.A. to New York. It's more apparent in some places than other places. But I've had a couple players that went through that. (Nationals assistant hitting coach) Jacque Jones. I think we were in New York. Jacque, LaTroy Hawkins, Barry Bonds. It don't shock me. It shows me how much further we got to go."

High Single-A Potomac Nationals center fielder Victor Robles (hamstring tightness) returned from the disabled list in the P-Nats' 3-2 loss on the road to Down East. He went 1-for-5 with a double and a strikeout. Robles, the Nats No. 1 rated prospect, had been out since April 18. He is batting .314 for the season.
