Tsuyoshi Wada will get a second opinion on his left elbow from Dr. Lewis Yocum in Calfornia. Yocum removed bone chips from Wada's elbow in 2007 and also did the Japanese pitcher's physical in December before he signed with the Orioles.
An MRA revealed a damaged ligament in Wada's elbow, which didn't appear during the physical. The pain apparently is in a different location from what Wada experienced in spring training.
Closer Jim Johnson remains hospitalized while doctors try to pinpoint the cause of his illness. He's obviously unavailable again tonight.
Johnson and manager Buck Showalter exchanged text messages earlier today. Johnson is naturally frustrated, and Showalter tried to lighten the mood by dropping a Wally Pipp reference on him.
Outfielder Nolan Reimold (neck) is feeling better today and will perform some baseball-related activities to gauge whether he could pinch-hit tonight.
Robert Andino's wife gave birth to a baby girl today - Amarise Hazel, who weighed 8 pounds.
Reliever Jason Berken is here to take Andino's place on the 25-man roster. The Orioles haven't announced it, but he stood at his locker this afternoon.
Catcher Taylor Teagarden will receive a third epidural injection in his back. That's the limit. If this one doesn't work, he'll have to try something else.
