Walters tearing cover off the ball, Tatusko impressive as Harrisburg edges Bowie

Harrisburg Senators shortstop Zach Walters hit fairly well in his first 54 games at Single-A Potomac, batting .269. But since his call-up to the Double-A level, Walters has been on a serious tear. Friday night in Bowie, Walters crushed a three-run shot to account for all the Senators' offense in a 3-2 win over the Baysox. His fourth homer came in the fourth inning off of Bowie starter Richard Zagone. Senators play-by-play man Terry Byrom tweeted the blast traveled 425 feet. Walters is now hitting .338 for Harrisburg in 17 games, and has three doubles, two triples, one homer and five RBIs in his last nine contests. The four homers grab attention because he had five home runs in 54 games at Potomac. Outfielder/first baseman Jimmy Van Ostrand had a base hit and scored a run. He has been on fire this season, batting .354 with six doubles, five homers and 13 RBIs in 30 games. Ostrand has had eight hits in his last four games. Right-hander Ryan Tatusko (2-2), making just his fourth start since May 23, was outstanding. Tatusko went five innings and scattered six hits, allowing one run and two walks while striking out five. He threw 88 pitches and 52 for strikes. His season ERA was 4.76, but he has pitched to just a 3.08 ERA his last 10 games and 26 1/3 innings. Eastern League All-Star Hector Nelo came on in the ninth to record his 11th save, getting Bowie's Manny Machado to pop out to end the game. With the win, the Senators have won a season-high six straight.
